I spent my time as a student in South Korea from middle school to highschool. With the crazy stress coming from the study pressures, I needed a fantasy to vent away my stress. My fantasy was embodied in my bucket list.

In the first column of bucket list was, “traveling abroad with friends”.

Freshly out of highschool with a full-time, yet low-paying coffee shop job, there was not much options in terms of money and time. Until my friend suggested an idea- that we should go to Japan.

When you think of Japan, many of you may think that it is pricey- which may be true to a degree. But having lived in South Korea at the time, the traveling distance to Japan was quite short, and flight tickets were affordable. Also, we checked in at an affordable accomodation via Airbnb. To cut short, we were able to travel with a low budget.

This trip is an ensemble of adulthood to me- being responsible for my traveling expense and plans, communicating with someone outside of parental or school guidance- most importantly, making my own choices.
